When ever I try to unzip anything I get that message. I looked to see if Zip was installed and from what I can see it is. What to do?

Krycheck 06-27-2001, 12:30 PM I click the zip file and Archiver comes up with that message. Is there a command line that I can put in console to get this to work? mrBen 06-27-2001, 12:41 PM OK, could be a couple of things. Firstly is that only root is authorised to deal with archived/zipped/packaged files, in which case you would either have to log in as root (probably not a good idea), or run the archiver from within a terminal window having used the su (superuser) command. Second thing it could be is that the zip programs path has not been added to your path variable, in which case just type export PATH=/<path to prog> (IIRC ;) ) Lastly, if it's just unzipping, then it is just as simple to unzip from a command line - type gunzip <progname> and hey presto! HTH Krycheck 06-27-2001, 10:39 PM Silly me. If I'd just take the time to think about it I'd remember. I tend to forget that command line is easier sometimes. I put the zip in the folder that I wanted it in and ran unzip command and presto! /me kicks myself for posting this in the firstplace :D justlinux.com
