Ok, I just tried installing Mandrake 7.2, and the program froze... I don't know what's going on. Here's the last few lines...

HDA: Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1212, Atapi CDROM drive
HDB: Creative CD-RW RW8435W, Atapi CDROM drive
HDC: Iomega Zip 100 Atapi, Atapi Floppy Drive
HDE: Quantum Fireballp KX27.3, ATA Disk Drive
ide0 at 0x1f0-1x1f7,0x3f6 on IRQ14
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on IRQ15
ide2 at 0x1440-0x1447,0x1436 on IRQ10

That's it, then it stalls... I don't know how to get past it. It detects all my hardware and then stalls. As if that weren't bad enough, now when I try to boot into Linux (Mandrake 7.1) I get this...

HDA: Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1212, Atapi CDROM drive
HDB: Creative CD-RW RW8435W, Atapi CDROM drive
HDC: Iomega Zip 100 Atapi, Atapi Floppy Drive
ide2: Ports already in use, skipping probe
HDI: Quantum Fireballp KX27.3, ATA Disk Drive
ide0 at 0x1f0-1x1f7,0x3f6 on IRQ14
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on IRQ15
ide4 at 0x1440-0x1447,0x1436 on IRQ10

Does anyone know WTF is going on and how I can fix it? Please help!

I'm guessing a little bit but it really looks like a resource conflict. What gets me is why it skips so many drives (they obviously don't exist) like how it goes from HDC to HDE or HDC to HDI. I really doubt you have that many drives in your system (9 to be exact) so the problem may lay inside somewhere. If everything was working fine in 7.1 before and didn't act up till you installed 7.2(assuming you didn't install any new hardware) then the Mandrake install program may have really messed something up somewhere. Was Mandrake 7.2 fully installed or did something happen where the install didn't get a chance to finish?

No, the install fails before it gets a chance to start. That's the Linux bootup before the install runs. And everything worked fine with 7.1... the only thing I've installed is that CD Burner, and Mandrake 7.1 handles it just fine... http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/mad.gif

I've got the same problem, mine stalls right after it says hdd: Ls120... It just sits there. I've never had a problem with any linux disro before (installing anyway).
