Plug-in support The Opera plug-in support is ready. However, no plugins are available in this release. Some Netscape plugins are supported, but require a separate download. There will be a package for this shortly. If not, what would be the best browser for the job? mozilla? the damn thing is so slow, when I go to a flash page I have to xkill it; everytime. That could be due to my hardware though(pII 333)... opera is nice, but doesn't have flash support. Konqueror tries to do everything at once, and therefore ends up doing alot of stuff poorly. Mozilla has it all, but boggs down my system so much, and is so slow I feel like Im running on a 386. Lynx is faster that opera, but, heh, its kinda obvious why: all text. So what would be the browser to see it all, and not make it run so slow that I have to upgrade my computer? EyesWideOpen 07-10-2001, 11:04 AM The best browser for viewing flash pages, as it stands right now, is probably Netscape 4.x. Though I usually use Mozilla because I use Netscape for work-related stuff and I can't afford to have ALL of my Netscape browsers get killed just because one of them didn't like Flash. M8ram 12-07-2001, 05:52 AM Hi, I just tried to view www.theorderofthedragon.com (http://www.theorderofthedragon.com) with both Mozilla and Netscape. Both crashed when I tried to view the flash intro... That can't be right! What could have caused this? Thanks in advance for any response... camelrider 12-07-2001, 02:27 PM Opera 5.5 supports Netscape plugins. Point it to Netscape's plugin directory. (You may have to search a bit for 5.5 on Opera's site.) scanez 12-07-2001, 04:37 PM Download the flash plugin via flash_linux.tar.gz. Unpack, cp/symlink/mv libflashplayer.so to the opera plugin directory (/usr/local/lib/opera/plugins or /usr/lib/....) OR put it in the mozilla/netscape directory and tell opera to check those directories for plugins too- you can do this in the opera exectuable in /usr/local/bin or /usr/bin. FYI, there is no opera 5.5 for linux :p You must have meant 5.05, the newest is 6 :) SC [ 07 December 2001: Message edited by: scanez ] justlinux.com
