If you want to keep an eye on the latest drops, but don't want to follow mailing lists and the like, just go to www.kernel.org (http://www.kernel.org) and scroll to the bottom. It links the source of the latest release (2.2.17), the latest beta (2.4.0-test10 today), and the latest alpha (2.4.0-test10/pre7) and when they were dropped.

I check it when curious about the progress.
