on my system, i have a group of users, who are all in the same group, "files" there's ross, and some others...

i want them all to share the same directory, /home/files , hence the groupname "files". I got the first 2 usernames to work, and then because the directory had the user ross, the other login couldn't get in there... is there a way i can set a directory to not have a user? just a group? that way 2 or more users can log in, and edit files the same folder?

set all the users up with the same home directory and watch the anarchy begin http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

well, i set them all to have the home directory of /home/files
but only 1 person can access the files, the user who owns the directory, like when i do "ls -al /home/files" it shows user: ross group: files
i need it not to have a user, or to have all the users in this group
