Icarus 05-20-2002, 10:22 PM Would it help to know that it is a Windows network with windows proxy servers? I've had no problem with Red Hat and this at all... Radar 05-20-2002, 10:26 PM I think you edit the /etc/make.conf file : toward the bottom of the file has the http / ftp proxy section. mdwatts 05-21-2002, 05:52 AM I seem to remember reading about using emerge rsync and proxy servers in the Gentoo install documentation. You can try the Gentoo docs or search the Gentoo usergroup/mailing list available at their website. I know I've also seen mention of proxy servers in the Gentoo usergroup. z0mbix 05-21-2002, 06:02 AM Add RSYNC_PROXY="proxy :port" to /etc/make.conf [ 21 May 2002: Message edited by: cheeky_zombie ] Icarus 05-21-2002, 07:12 AM Originally posted by cheeky_zombie: Add RSYNC_PROXY="proxy :port" to /etc/make.conf [ 21 May 2002: Message edited by: cheeky_zombie ] This lets me specify where the proxy server is, but our proxy server requires authentification...that is where I am stuck, I can't figure out how to authenticate with the domain. At this point the install hasn't happened and I it is logged on as root, there are no user setups at all. Icarus 05-21-2002, 02:08 PM I decided to go with the larger .iso for Gentoo, for some odd reason this works just fine and is downloading without ANY configuration  It's been compiling for the last 4 hours now and doesn't seem to be even near the end :p justlinux.com
