For one I should have clicked "do not update boot loader", as it changed my default desktop to GNOME when GNOME was not installed.) I was able to figure out how to change it back using switchdisk.
Somehow I have lost Xcdroast. KDE has replaced it with a CD Burner of its own, but I want Xcdroast back. I upgraded a second time to reinstall it, but all that happens now is that outside of root I get a login saying I need to be root (it was configured to accept me as a user), and then nothing happens. In root just nothing happens. I have only tried the new KDE CD burning software a couple of times but both times when I tried to change the configuration I got the message the file "mod" cannot be found.
And finally: all kinds of programs that were listed in the KDE menu previously are now not there (including Xcdroast, but also Mozilla and up2date) that is in both user and root.
How do I find what in windows I would call the .exe of a program that is not listed in the menu? And why isn't everything listed in the menu?
When I logout with "change users" checked off I get a black screen with garbage at the top and the login form windows in white. It works but clearly something is not right.
