I have Mandrake 7.2. installed. Whenever I try to download a rpm file it seems to download o.k. but when selected all I get is a black square in the upper left corner. I hope someone has also had this problem and can help me out. THANKS. Joseph

"when selected"? What are you talking about? To install it, it's easiest from the console. Become root (su, and then enter root password). Then get to the directory with the RPM. Then run

rpm -Uvh put-the-name-of-the-rpm.i386.rpm

And if there are no error messages, you are good to go.
