imve just installed Corel linux under "install in dos/windows partition". when i boot up to linux everything seems fine, but when i het to my desktop, it doesnt look anything like what it shows in the user guide. what is shown is a "windows" type of interface, but what i get is the Debian desktop. i think it is logging me on as the root user instead of a system user, but im not for sure.
what am i doing wrong or what am i supposed to do that im not?

I am not sure how your linux looks but I am running Corel as well. The difference between us is that I installed it to a seperate ext2 partition booting from CD-ROM. It looks right like what it was said to be. But it does look like Windows though.

Could be that your 'Shift' key is broken. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
Did you login as root or user? You should be able to tell by what you selected and the password you used.
Check out the desktop configuration utility or whatever your distro has to allow you to change the appearance. Right-click on the desktop maybe to bring up display properties.
