I just finished reading the NHF on adding an IDE cd-writer to a RedHat system. I have one question though. One my machine...I am booting linux off a boot disk. Do I need to the `append="hdX=ide-scsi` to the lilo.conf on the floppy and if so...how do I run lilo again and point it to the floppy or do I have to re-run lilo again since I am booting from a floppy? I just installed the cd-w/rw and it is working fine on the win2k side and I would like to see if I can get it going under RedHat 7.1...thanks for any info.

If you actually use lilo you could always just type linux hdX=ide-scsi

This is useful to make sure everything else is in place without screwing around with your lilo.conf.

To change it, edit lilo.conf and add the necessary changes. There should be a line that says root= make sure it says
root=/dev/fd0
