How hard is it to install KDE 2.0 into Mandrake 7.1 ?
Do you have to keep the Linux veersions uptodate in order to upgrade the rest of the stuff?

I got KDE 2.0 working on 7.1, after going through hell. But 7.2 is out now, so why would you want to do that.

It wasn't very easy at all. The problem for me was that they installed all the kde executables in /usr/bin and not /opt/kde/bin like a lot of others distros do. So it made it hard in the sense that you need to get all the other thing out of /usr/bin so you really can't just change your Path or something simple like that. However with some work it is very possible. Like the above I would probably just go with Drake 7.2 in your case. I used 7.1 for about a month and now have moved on to Slack 7.1 and really like it.
