I'm trying to add an icon for Wordperfect using Kmenuedit.
It should have been added when I installed the program but it wasn't.
I have managed to add an icon for Kmenuedit itself but I am getting the following error when I try it for WP 8 which is :-
This file does not contain an executable, edit the properties.

At the moment I start WP 8 from the Konsole with the following :- /usr/local/corel/wpbin/xwp

Can somebody tell me what to fill in the File Name and Execute boxes and whether I have to fill in anything under the
Application tab. I left that alone when I set up the Kmenuedit icon and that worked OK.

Thanks.

I know it will work as I have also setup the same in my KDE menu on my work PC. Cannot remember the exact way to set it up.

Why not check the properties of another similar item in the KDE menu and see how that is done.

Thanks for reply mdwatts, also for the reply to my log in problem, nice to know I'm not the only one with the problem.
If it is possible, when you are at work could you have a look at your settings for WP 8 in Kmenuedit and send me the settings. I am trying to use your suggestion but I am not getting very far.

Thanks.

I'm on short term disability right now and will be for at least another week. Had a bone marrow transplant in January. Sorry.

Anything that will help in the KDE documentation installed on your system or the FAQ's and docs at www.kde.org (http://www.kde.org) ?

Are you using the complete path '/usr/local/corel/wpbin/xwp' in the shortcut as you have used by running WP in Konsole? You should be able to find some other application in the Kmenu that has similar properties that you can use to copy.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the problem you're having with WP.

Returned to work today, but didn't remember.

Will check tomorrow just in case you still need the answer.

OK, I checked both of my shortcuts.

Working Directory : /usr/X11R6/wplib

Application Tab - Nothing

I also have a shortcut for WP on the Panel

In it's properties

General Tab

File Name : WordPerfect
Full Name : /opt/kde/share/applnk/office/WordPerfect

Permissions Tab

R W E
U x x
G x
O x

Owner - Root

Execute Tab

Execute : /usr/X11R6/wpbin/xwp

Nothing else

Application Tab

Hope you can finally get it going.

Don't use Kmenuedit. Go to konquerer and edit, global applications and add the app/icon there. Then Global mime types to make an association to wpd.
