OK - been trying to put some of my CDs into MP3 format, mainly so that I can get some of the visualisation plugins on XMMS to work (unless there is a way to get them running direct from CD now?) and so I used GRIP. I set it to rip and encode, and it ripped them into .wav files, and then encoded them as .ogg files, but XMMS, although it sees them, won't play them. It will even seek, and play like a millisecond, but it won't actually just play it. What am I doing wrong? Is it Grip or XMMS that's the problem? Is there an easier way than Grip, which seems like overkill for what I want?
