Eh... Just installed Manddrake and wanted to go online... BUT I entered a wrong IP adress in the installation process. Sheeesh! That IP adress app. is like nowhere to be found? Lol. I know. Pathetic but help would be warmly received. Once more: Where do I alter my rude and wrong IP adress? I heard of the app. called DrakeNet... It is nowhere to be found though... Sigh... Hope somebody knows what to do http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

Some programs are not accessible to you unless you "su" as root or set permissions to allow it. This is needed to maintain security.

To change ip easily, try using "linuxconf". Mandrake dists invariably have it installed.

Hope this helps...

Which ip address is wrong? If it is a DNS server, check /etc/resolv.conf - if it is your own address (static connection), run netcfg in X as root.

If you are using 7.1 on your desk top as "Root" click DrakConf then click network configuration - then -basic host information-click adaptor 1 - fill in the proper IP address-click accept-Quit Network conf- accept changes- colse DrakConf. That should work.

Thanks for all the info. Tried out the resolv.conf but that was allright. Altered the IP's inside of Linuxconf. but it did not really change that much. Must be doing somethíng terribly wrong. One last shot from my side of the fence:

Got this conf. in windows:

MS. client network.
TCP.
and the network card.

All of this is set up in a regular network where the net connection comes from. Properly explained? What should I do, if I am to use the same settings?

Once more thanks http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

after you changed the ip's, did you restart your ethernet/modem ? or your computer? you might need to to make them go into effect.
