Hello,

I was looking over some old postings in the debian-legal mailing list, and I came across a post that says that Libranet's restriction on distribution is against the GPL. Is this true? GPL clause 2b (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html) is where the section on derivitive works is.
According to the licenses of the Libranet components, it appears that people should be able to freely redistribute the Libranet distribution in any way they want in accordance with the GPL. However, Libranet's website says another thing:

"The Libranet iso image only is copyright 2000 Libra Computer Systems Ltd.
The programs contained within the Libranet distribution are copyright of their respective owners. You may freely download and use this distribution for any purpose with the exception that you may not
sell or commercially distribute this iso image without prior permission from Libra Computer Systems. The programs contained within the Libranet distribution have been released under several different licenses, mostly under the GPL. For more information read each program's respective documentation."

Additionally, they don't have any source code posted on their website for their distribution.

Isn't this a violation of the GPL?

I'm moving this to the Rants-forum.
