Sorry for those who already read this question. I missed the answers due lack of time.
Is there a way to let X handle the url directly, without making somekind of file:// of it before it arrives at the browser, it gives further browsing problems.
Mandrake 8.2 /gnome /amd1600+

I read your question before, but didn't really understand what you were asking.
X is the X Windows system (XFree86).
Could you please give us an example on how this is happening?

Hi,
Thanks for answering.
When I click on a url, for example:
http://www.kranten.com/a/74176
the url is tranfered to mozilla, but ends up like:
file:///home/hwjr/.kde/share/apps/kfmexec/tmp/2281.0.749176
instead of the original url as above. If I wish to browse the openened webpage from here it does noet work, and some webpage do not display proper. If I copy paste the url itself all works fine.

Maybe the file association for *.html is incorrect and is not set to open in a browser correctly.
Now I don't use Gnome myself, but I do know in the KDE Control Center under File Browsing/File Associations and then text and html, *html is set to open in Konqueror.
Gnome must have something similiar to set/change the file associations.
Hope that helps somewhat.
