i have been trying to install 'ddd'. i d/loaded it as a tar file & was successful @ uncompressing the file.

when i run the ./configure command i get messages that 'aclocal', 'autoconf', 'automake', 'autoheader' & 'makeinfo' are all missing. doesn't sound good. i also get the response of 'no' next to 'checking whether C++ compiler (gcc ) works'. the only message that comes back as an error is 'installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables'.

i also noticed that from the installation docs that there should also be a 'make' exe file that i run after the 'configure' exe. but i only see the 'configure' exe.

i am running linux mandrake 7.1 on an ibm thinkpad. gcc has been installed & works fine.

any help would be appreciated as i am just trying to make the switch to linux from windows & this is all relatively new to me.

Cheers

When I installed Mandrake 7.0, even though I chose the "Development" install that some necessary stuff was missing. When I installed the 'kernel-source' package rpm from the cd, it also installed the header files that I'd been missing when trying to compile some programs. If "make" is still missing you can search the /cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS directory with "ls -al | grep make". Hope this helps.
