Hi:
Until today I'd no problems dloading rpm's.
Now what happens is this: it starts to dload but looks as if it's actually opening the rpm; all I get is a screenful of garbage.
This does not happen with tarballs.
Anyone have any ideas?
Is this a Netscape 4.73 issue? I'm running that and MDK 7.1.
The system has been rock stable (except for Netscape.) I can't recall having made any changes that would have caused this.
TIA

Are you using netscape to download the file? In that case try holding down the shift key while clicking on the link. That should get Netscape to understand you want to download the file instead of viewing it. You can also click the link using the right button and select "Save Link As..." in the popup menu.

Yah, Netscape tries to interpret RPMs by default. And of course, RealPlayer gets in the way as well.
Hold the shift key and click the link, or right click and select "Save link as..." or edit your preferences (which will "break" realplayer)

Hmmm..I did suspect a NS issue. But...if I hold down the shift key or right click, all it does is save the page with a .html extension. Is there a way to adjust the setting for this in NScape? I didn't see anything in preferences. And still can't dload rpm's. I must have unwittingly changed something in NS, as all was well until today.

Hello All:
May thanks for the help. What finally worked was version 1.1.69-1.i386.rpm which I dloaded from Tucows. However, It took two tries. Still a Netscape issue I'll have to look into. Someone mentioned Real Player. It's possible I did not have this problem until after setting up RP, but I really can't recall.
Anyway,
Many Thanks
