/dev/ttyS0 locked

I get this message (/dev/ttyS0 is locked) when I start xminicom. this is the port that my modem is on. I have since rebooted my box and turned off and on my modem. Can I unlock this port manually or what do i need to do.

go to /etc/ppp/options and deleate the word lock then go to your dialer and make sure that the checkmark is out of the box that says lock in the setup options of the dialer
