Can't mount cd properly

I can't seem to mount a music cd to play it. I have just about every file system available compiled into my kernel, but still can't seem to get any cds to mount so I can play them. Any ideas guys?

I've tried several mount commands...

mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom
mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /cdrom
mount /dev/hdc /cdrom
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom

As well as apt-getting automount to see if it could do it, but I couldn't get the daemon to run. It gave me an error without any information about why it errored out. What do you think?

You don't mount music CD's. Just point to the device. Music CDs have no file-system on them

No luck with that either. Are there any other devices that I should try and point my player (xmms) to? It doesn't detect any of them.

Are you pointing it to /dev/cdrom? If so, try pointing to /dev/hd_ (whatever yours is). Are you running the CD audio plugin?

Got it. Thanks for everyone's help. I was worried that there was some fs I didn't compile into the kernel to make audio cds readable. Had no idea that xmms didn't play them without a plugin. Couldn't find it, but I did find an x program that worked. Thanks all!
