strange message before login

I am getting this message after boot and before the login
Winbond Super -IO detection, now testing ports 3T0, 370, 250, 4E, 2E...
SMSC Super -IO detection, now testing ports 2F0, 370...

I am running Mandrake 8.0 and if I don't login right away,, but wait couple of minutes, the computer freases. I login from the console and not GUI.

How can I fix this?

I get the same message. I'll continue to ignore it. :)

I think it is just the kernel acknowledging hardware monitoring components.

But does your system freeze after couple of minutes if you don't login?
