StarOffice Save

I just bought Mandrake 8 (came with StarOffice 5.2) and when I try to save to a floppy or to any partition (in any format) the program freezes. I keep trying to save to /mnt/floppy or /mnt/win_c (Windows partition). Both are use non-linux partitioning, but I don't think that's the problem. I've never heard of the problem before (even looking at other forums), so I think it's me. I'm guessing that I'm trying to save at the wrong spot.

Whichever partition you installed SO, it has down inside it a special folder called Work. Unless you did something to change it, that's where it tries to save stuff - in my limited experience.

Frankly, in my Drake 8 -- or 7 or 6.5 -- I have been able to put it almost anywhere I want, though I do not remember if I have used the /mnt/windows Win partition.

I did some testing last night, and it turns out that it only freezes when I try to save as a Word 97/2000 document, I can save as anything else and it doesn't freeze. Unfortunately, the cross-platform ability is exactly why I wanted StarOffice. Is there anything that can be done?
