About programs installation under linux???

Hello guys,

I am newbie to linux. I have installed two version of RH7.1 and Mandrake 8.

I also looking for some web development programs under linux ( like Go Live, Dreamweaver,etc..).

I downloaded some files from internet, like Netscape ( older version ), Star Office 5.2, etc... but I don't know how to install those, how to unpacking those software.
Does anybody know how to make this things working?? Any tutorials?? Or if you can send me some links where I can learn those things. How to install some applications under linux, etc....

There should always be instructions included on the website for each RPM file that you download.

For all RPMs, type rpm -ivh [the_RPM_file_name]

Make sure that both super user and/or yourself have permissions to run this command.

StarOffice install was just covered a few times over the past couple of days in the forums. It's either in Technical or Software.
