hey all, just got mandrake 7.2 running (it was a messy upgrade...kde2 came out all messed up when upgrade over kde1) and I notices that imwheel was activated for all users. I have no idea when imwheel gets turned on, or by what, but I would like it to stop because I have no use for it because I mainly run gnome. let me know how to turn it off (getting tired of killing it manually everytime)

The script that starts imwheel is in /etc/X11/xinit.d.

Turn if off! I'd love to have it turned on!! I've read and followed ever imwheel how-to I can find and I havn't been able to get it to work. I'm using a logitech wheel mouse and imwheel just doesn't seem to recognize it at all.

Try using IMPS/2 instead of the logitech entry. That's what I use with my logitech mouseman+ and it works great.

It's a logictech Mouse that goes through a PS/2 to serial adapter. Could that be making a difference?

yeah, that would. IIRC IMPS/2 still looks at the ps/2 port. hmmm...

Hey, I have a Kensington Mounse-In-A-Box (a wheel mouse) that won't run under any circumstances. Oh sure, it works as a plain old mouse, but the wheel has never ever worked. It's a ps/2 mouse. imwheel doesn't work either.
Bleck!

As far as I know and taking into account that I run mandrake 7.1
I see no need for you to run imwheel. Xfree 4.x has support for logitech mice with the MouseManPS2 protocol.
