I put my linux system on the back burner for the last month in order to get me LAN working. And now that I have finished getting it working I want to add a linux system.

My problem is this:
Whenever I try to install RedHat through the GUI, it will freeze during the first 10% of the install process (never gotten further) unless I move the mouse constantly and then it usually makes it to 50% before freezeing. Text install is the same, except it prints out a lot giberish in black text with a red background. The only thing that I could make out was "Kernal Panic". I had the same problem with RedHat 6.1 and 6.2, but now its worse (though that may just be because the install is bigger).

Ideas?

You'll need to see what error messages accompany kernel panic, there are many reasons it can happen. Can't handle your cpu, bad memory, can't find hd, etc.

I had the same problem with one of my pc's. I ended up installing in text mode. In order to do that, when boots off the cd or floppy install, at the prompt type "text" without the quotes and hit enter. It will install without the GUI. I had no problems and it worked just fine.
