Can anyone recommend scanner software for a Mikrotek 4600?
I have two basic applications:
3.Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to scan in text and save as text
4.Photo scans for web pages and photo album
TIA, Matt

I think the linux replacement for TWAIN is SANE, and then any application that knows how to use SANE can use the scanner, but then not all scanners bothered to make a SANE version of their driver. If you just want an application, I don't know if gimp has a scanner interface, but there almost has to be a plug-in, and Corel Draw 9 has a simple free linux version, I'm sure that will work for the photos, I don't know about the text.

The Gimp has a sane plugin, or you can use it standalone. I think it is called xsane or xscan. I would do a search on http://freshmeat.net for OCR.
