I have Enlightenment running here with Debian 2.2, works like a charm. Try it.

i'd say freebsd or solaris is the best distro for enlightenment

there is no 'best' distribution in terms of window managers, it may run differently depending on which Xfree86 release the distribution has installed, etc., or it may have a specifig configuration for E, but it's still basically the same... there is no best!

as for your error, that's a different issue, if you post it, we will be happy to help you out with the problem. ;)

I've had E running with Mandrake 7.1, Slack 7.0, Slack 7.1 to name a few. Please, post the specific error and we'll see what we can do.

I think you for your intrest in the problem I have, When I installed enlighenment it says there was some things it needed so I downloaded one of it's requirements, then it says it needs this when I type it in the terminal:
'enlighenment:/lib/libc.so.6 verison 'GLIBC-2.2 not found (required by enlightenment) so

I did a search and downloaded 'GLIBC-2.2.3 mkk.i586.rpm and went to root and went to kpackage and tryed to install it but I got many many dependencies so it wouldent install... When I go into GNOME and go to the Windows manager and try to go to enlighenment it counts down from 10 to the start when it gets to 1 it stop and returns to sawfish, and says there was a error. If someone could help me with this I would GREATLY apperciate it. Thanks for you time.

Just curious, why dont you just install the version of Enlightenment that comes with Mandrake7.2? I've been running it as my window manager for months now on 'drake7.2 and have had absolutely zero problems.

Alright, thanks... The only problem is that my CDROM isnt working on Linux at the moment... I guess I could just re-install and do a custom install and choose enlightenment....

Before you do that I'd check the ftp mirror listing at http://www.linux-mandrake.com and see if you cant download the RPM from an ftp site rather than have reinstall.
Or ... if you dual boot with Windows just boot into Windows and copy the RPM to your Windows partition then grab it from there when you boot back into Linux.

RPM's from 'drake7.2 are kinda hard to find since 8.0 has been out for a while now. Most of the ftp mirrors only have the RPMs for 8.0. A bit of searching turned up this though, so it is out there if you dont mind a bit of searching around for it. http://www.sopac.org.fj/linux/RPM/mandrake/7.2/Mandrake/RPMS/enlightenment-0.16.4-7mdk.i586.html

There's a link to download the RPM at the top of the page as well as a list of requirements towards the bottom. My connection to that site is horrid, so hopefully you'll have better luck in that dep't. If not just search on google for Mandrake 7.2 RPMs and you should be able to find it somewhere else. Good luck.

Solaris? Where do you get Solaris? The file that the link goes to is an i586 RPM for Mandrake7.2.
