I'm looking for a good email client. Specifically one thats not too big, supports multiple pop accounts, and supports html.

I'm netscape mail right now. Pretty much tired of it. I've tried installing CSCMail but am having problems with it and some GTK modules. I could spend more time and figure out the problem but I just don't know if CSCMail is good enough for it to be worth the time.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

the fetchmail -> mutt -> sendmail combo rules as far as I'm concerned.

Evolution, now in Release Candidate, and heavily tested for bugs, has completely changed the Linux email and PIM experience for me, it's a departure from anything done for Linux before. The devels are to be congratulated, in many areas of excellence, and response to user "wish lists".

I'd second mutt

If you're looking for a light GUI mail client, I'd suggest you give Sylpheed (http://sylpheed.good-day.net/) a try. It's very fast and very stable. If you just want a great e-mail client (non-GUI), I second all the mutt recommendations.

Evolution! Release Candidate 2 just came out last night, and I can't tell the difference from RC 1. That's a good thing, because I had absolutely no problems with RC 1.

I'm a big fan of kmail... it does filters, multiple accounts, and integrates with the KDE address book. Plus, it's got a nice, intuitive GUI, so there's zero learning curve.

I really like Sylpheed. It reads html, but only composes in plain text AFIK.

I'm a mutt user too, but I tried sylpheed last week just for kicks and it sounds like it might be what you're looking for.

Sylpheed is now part of the Red Hat 7.2 distro. The only drawback I find is it can't forward attachments that came with emails. You have to save them and attach them in a new mail. It doesn't have group sending too. Otherwise it is pretty good.

Sylpheed is evolving rather quickly. To keep informed of new features/releases you might want to subscribe to their mailing list at:
sylpheed@good-day.net
or the cutting-edge branch at:
sylpheed-claws-users@lists.sourceforge.net

If you want to go with a GUI I'd second sylpheed or have a look at balsa (http://www.balsa.net). Otherwise: mutt or pine

kmail i very easy, i tried evolution once, but it lookes much more complicated :D so, cause i'm satisfied with my kmail, i stay with that.. though, i'd like to have a txt-based email client too, so i'm going to look for pine/mutt

i upgraded too mandrake8.1, and had to reconfigure everything :/
currently, i can only send mail though not receive it, it says it can't connect, though everything is set like it should..
for your problem: i had that once too. the problem with me was that in my outbox, i had an email where i mistyped the receivers address, and it detected that the address didn't exist, so once i move that mail, everything worked fine..

I'm currently using fetchmail to get my mail (multiple accounts as you said) dropping them in mbox files in my home dir.

Next I use postillion to read and process them. It's not pretty or easy to use, but it's feature-packed, and extremely stable. If you manage to get tkstep installed it may even look good. I'm just waiting for evolution to become stable and fast enough to handle my huge mailboxes (hundreds of meg per mailbox). Most of the popular clients (balsa, kmail, ...) are toys, they'll only support the mail volume of a hotmail user. If they actually get to displaying my email, that's a small miracle.

As for the situations when you don't have X available, mutt is good. It takes some getting used to, but it does everything, and it's fast and stable.

Then for sending I have a qmail setup. Not really THAT useful for the moment, but who knows what I'll eventually do with it? :)

I wanted to try sylpheed, but it didn't work with mbox files, and for me it's important that I can move my mail to any platform/any client. I could move back to windows with those mbox files, since all mailclients can import them. If I went to sylpheeds maildir, I'd have to expend considerable effort moving my mail if it came to that.
