I'm looking for a good distrobution to run in preferrably under 500 megs, w/ GCC and (optionally) kernel source. Does anybody know of a good distro for this? I've found floppy distros, but none of them have gcc. I don't necessarily need x, but if it could be installed in 500-700 Megs space, that'd be great. (Processor: x86, HD: 1GB, but I want some free space for compiling and swap).

Thanks!

There are often similar questions asked in the General forum that a search may find.

Also try http://www.distrowatch.com/

I have a url for one of the best sites I've seen that lists just about every distro out there and what they specialize in. Unfortunately I have it bookmarked at work.

I always vote for Peanut Linux with these requirements. www.ibiblio.org/peanut (http://www.ibiblio.org/peanut)
Possibly some sort of Slack or Deb install if you're brave.

I have a machine at home running Slack on a 512MB hard disk with X. No gcc, but I dare say if you didn't want X you could put the development stuff on instead.
