Well I just apt-get installed cups and xpp for my printing convenience. I looked through the documentation for cups and got it working properly. The test page came out perfectly and printing jobs do well with the lp printing command. Only I installed cups to use it with xpp, but xpp won't start.
Whenever I start xpp it says: "Unable to connect to CUPS server, check options"
What is this? The cups server is working properly, otherwise I wouldn't be able to print with lp would I? Why does lp work but not xpp? Did I miss something in the cups configuration file?

Problem solved. For some reason the debian package just didn't work, or not correctly anyway.
I uninstalled xpp and installed the ready to use binary from their website.
It works now
