I want to create the partitions I need to use with FreeBSD before I start installing it because I like cfdisk way more than fdisk. But in cfdisk there seemed to be a few BSD partition types, BSD/OS, BSD/386 etc, or something like them so how do I know which ones to choose? What partitions do I need to make, what format must they be and how big do they need to be?
I'll be installing FreeBSD 4.1.1.
Thanks

FreeBSD's install uses cfdisk (IIRC), or something very similar. It does NOT use fdisk (maybe you're thinking of OpenBSD). I'd recommend partitioning from inside the installer.

You sure cos it looked like fdisk. It certainly wasnt cfdisk, I used that in Slackware and this was very different. Anyway tho, what do I need to make them because I'd rather do it before because that partitioning program that is in FreeBSD 4.1.1 was more complicated. I couldn't tell what partition was which because all it had was the start and end blocks and the size, not the format type. Is there anyway to be shown what format the partitions are?
Thanks
