I have Mandrake 7.2. How do i find out what version of Xfree86 I have installed, where can I get the latest version, and how do I install it??

You could simply run xdpyinfo from console,X --version perhaps check XF86Config or the X***.log in /var/log.

As for where to get latest X realese (4.01) try www.xfree86.org (http://www.xfree86.org) or if you use one of the
3dfx,matrox,ati cards then dri.sourcefrge.net .While you at it,amke sure to read XFree NHF here @LNO.Hope this helps.

Since you already have M7.2 installed, you can also use Control Center in KDE to find out what version it is running.

If you want to update to XFree86 4.01 and have the Extensions CD, you can install it with rpmDrake and just modify the pointer "X" to the new version.
