I've just installed RealPlayer7 on RedHat 6.2 and it seems to be working correctly. Only problem is when I'm watching some videos, about 20 minutes long, Real Player 7 will just close out for no reason. It doesn't give me an error message of any kind and the files that I'm using have tested successfully on a different Windows machine. Any ideas? Real Player has always given me problems, no matter what opperating system I've used. Is there another program that will play RealVideo files? Is there a way to fix the problem I'm having now?

try running it from an X terminal and then see if any errors come up http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

How to fix the problem:
Stop playing and downloading Real Player format video or audio. :-)
Can anybody give me a good reason to use RealPlayer? Other than for watching RealPlayer formatted video and audio......because that is not a good reason.
Standards right now are mpg, and avi. If you put video in either one of those formats then there is less headache. Beside, I have never seen a high quality Real Player movie.

I totally agree. I despise Real Player myself, but I've run across so many files that are not in any other format. Someone has a hard on for Real Player, I'm just trying to get along with the rest of the world. I've never had a good expierience with real player, but I must say that since I got it running right on Linux, it's been working great.
