why is it that when i try to install the latest galeon from rpms it gives me like *this version only works with even numbered builds* or something similar is there a way to update that or fix it?

My best guess would be that it's referring to your kernel, since the even dots are stable. That's the only thing I can think of, so if you are running one of the 2.3.99pre? or a regular 2.3 kernal, if may intentionally not let you use it. Of course, I could also be completely wrong here.
