I have 3 problems hope you can help
I have installed mandrake 8,and I found that
it did find all hardware, but the sound card will not function?
The install found my video card but it calls it a rage 128,it's a all in wonder 128,and
I don't have any icons for DOS drive or cd roms.
Any help?

About the sound, I dont know...
The video card....I had an ATI Rage Pro and it called it a Mach64--but it worked fine...so I guess your ok there--except I dont know how to set up TV in Linux (the all in wonder had tv right?)
The drives---check under /mnt---they should be in there....

the all in wonder is a tv tuner and tv out card.

Your AIW must have a rage128 chipset. For TV out features check out www.linuxvideo.org (http://www.linuxvideo.org) GATOS is what you want. Don't bother with changing what the video is called, it is just a alphanumeric string.
Can't help with the sound card, though you might try checking on the mixer settings with say kmix aumix or gmix. Also, open xmms, if it opens with no errors, then your sound is setup properly.
Icons will depend on your Desktop. Try right clicking and select new launcher if you are in GNOME. From cli all your DOS and CDROM drives will be mounted to /mnt. cd /mnt will change directory to /mnt. ls will list the contents of the current directory.
This NHF (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/commands/index.html) should help you.
