Hello, Can anyone help with a video problem with monitor. I have a Compaq MV520. It worked great with Mandrake 7.0 and 7.1. I just installed 7.2. I have a sis530 video card. (I think). I have tried to select different monitors with no success. I usually selected extended super VGA 600 X 800 @ 60MHZ. It is not bad right now but it has small flashing lines on the screen now. It is worse when running any applications. I am new at this so any help would be great. thanks to all.

Hi,
Since you do not have a flood of reply's I will give it a shot...I had the best luck with that distro by configuring X myself..Heres how..while in X (GUI) press ctrl+alt+F3 to get to the command mode..Type in (root) then (pass word)..Once in root type "Xconfigurator" thats capital letter X and lower case for the rest with no quotes..Follow directions and and let it try to configure, but if it will not, then you have to select your monitor and your video card..Always let it test
your results and when satified click "yes" with your selection of resolution and color depth(generally 800x600 at 32 bit depth) or for bigger monitors 1024x768 at 32 0r 24 bit depth)
When you finish your selections you can reboot by typing, shutdown - rnow
The computer will reboot and relaunch into a GUI...Hopefully you will be happy with the results..
