Upgrading Kernel

Hi all,

I have just upgraded from linux-2.2.12-20 to linux-2.2.16 and there seems to be a small problem when i boot i get a message sasying:

/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq no such file or directory

and my second nic won't initialize

has anyone got any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong

Did you figure out why it was giving you the error message?
It almost seems like something missing from a kernel compile.. but that's just a guess.. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

as far as i can tell the problem was with lilo not updating properly when i ran make bzlilo everything seemed to work properly after i reconfigured etc/lilo.conf
