Have Mandrake 7.0 just installed MAN 8.0 BUT...

I have two separate hard drives, one windows and the other Mandrake 7.0. I just installed 8.0, but came across a problem. I got all the way through the insatllation untill it froze on install bootloader.

I have LILO has my boot loader, but it didn't register it. It came up with an error: /boot/boot.b: no such file or directory.

I ctrl-alt-delete and gave up. I then tried to startup linux one more time, everything went smooth, but my login screen didn't show up, it starts me at runlevel 3 or 5 and I cant get my desktop. But I do notice it installed 8.0. I stumped someone help me out of this mess?

This is exactly what it said: Installation of bootloader failed. The following error occurred: Fatal: open/boot/boot.b: No such file or Directory. I have a partition set up with Man 7.0. Am I suppposed to go back to windows and update the partition?
Or when this warning comes up again where should I install the directory, MBR or first section of boot partition and what dir! Thanks :confused: :eek:

where is your boot disk?

i hope you created one when installing!

if you have one boot from that to get in to linux the edit your lilo.conf file and run the comand /sbin/lilo to make the changes take effect.

if you dont have one .... :p wanna borrow mine? :D

I got a boot disk with the box and I made one! I've been struggling with the damn bootloader. How do you config /etc/lilo.conf? I'm stuk in a text-only screen, and I cannot access Xwindows! "If I don't swim in your toilet than you dont pee in my pool"
