equivalent text processor like Wordpad/Notepad

I am writing perl scripts on a win2000 box and need to know if there are any other text processors besides Notepad or Wordpad, also if there are any Perl editors out there for win2000.

do a websearch for something called "vde" or "video display editor" or the like. It's a dos based text editor.

It's a bunch of years (5 or more) old though.

For windows search for a program called

Notespad - with a "s"

Very small, fast and runs from the tray.
Allows multiple files open at once, spell check, insert keys, and formatting if you need it.

Best of all it's free!
Don't forget vim ( vi improved ) has a windows version as well as a Linux version.

Homesite 1.2 is freeware, and does syntax hiliting, etc.
