Satan Install

I decided to install Satan on my SlackBox (7.1) and I am having a hell of a time. I downloaded Perl 5.6.0 and compiled and installed it twice..(it took about 15-20 minutes each time) and when I run the ./reconfig in the Satan dir. it still says that it cannot find Perl5.....I am wits end because I am almost positive I am installing Perl correctly because I am following the install text word for word....any help?
