I've got GKrellm in my /etc/x11/xdm/Xsession so it appears in the Blackbox slit but it doesn't do the mailcheck even though everything is setup correctly.
If I start it up via a terminal once I've logged in then it does the check. Any ideas why it doesn't check my mailboxes when started from xsession?

I don't think it does it's own mailcheck. I think it can just monitor ^your^ mail check program for updates. Not sure, though.

If you have the mail section of the Gkrellm setup right it will check to see if you have recieved any mail, but only if you have your mail program setup to auto check you mail account.I have Fetchmail going out and checking my accounts about every 5 minutes when I am online and then have Gkrellm check my /var/spool/mail/user file for new mail you can also right click on the left side of the mail section of Gkrellm and it will do a check of your mail account.
