Hi
I'm a newbie Linux learner, striving to do so with less than a years computer experience
(I'm 47, a bit late to start learning?) I have a 486 (inactive - my learning Bust-em-up experimentive inspiration!), a P11 233 (online), and a "homebuilt" P. Pro 180 Acer mainboard. I've got Mandrake loaded, but my problem is this AOpen PT80 3D/2D Video Graphics card I installed..My old 486 1 meg. card would WORK, but couldn't get "control panel", or "gimp" going, so I thought that this new card would do it, but i can't get it working right. Perhaps I need both cards?
OR... What's the deal with drivers? I guess that you can't use the CD ROM that come with the card in Linux.. I have tried lots of combos of setups, but I keep getting a "weird" X-windows with things "blacked out"
Soooo...any ideas? I'm not that experienced, and would appreciate any help. I am keen on Linux, But am surrounded by "Softies"
