Help finding config file

I removed a SCSI card but I get an error on boot that says it is still trying to load the module and cannot find the device. Where is the file which lists modules to be loaded?

Might be different with other distros, but: /etc/modules.conf
Some distributions call it conf.modules. Do a 'locate modules | less' and you should be able to find what you're looking for.

Actually, I looked there first but it is not attempting to load from there. Only a very small number of modules are actually listed in /etc/modules.conf compared to the myriad of modules that are actually loaded during system initiation -I wonder where that list is.
