Hello, I am running Mandrake 7.2 on a K6-3 450 Mhz and I am having a very strange problem. When I try to access the internet under the default Mandrake kernel(its 2.2.17) the internet works fine, I can go to any site I want to, etc... However, when I boot with a 2.4 kernel(I have tried using the latest kernels, I think the lasest pre-patch is #6) I can still log onto the internet(using a regular modem) but I can only go to some sites. Sites like yahoo, cnn, etc... but I can't go to other sites like hotmail, or linuxnewbie or linuxtoday. Netscape says "The server has refused your connection, please try again later." However, I can immeditaly reboot and boot with the default kernel and everything work correctly. I have ran 2.4.x kernels before on various systems and never had this problem. I have no firewalling setup and I have pppd version 2.4.0. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

When you compiled the kernel 2.4 did ya include the ppp support under Network Device Support??
Whether this will actually cause your problem or not, I do not know but it is the only idea to your problem I can think of.

Don't know how it works really, but that's the same message I get when I try and access a secure site without ssh support. At least, the same thing happens with mozilla at hotmail (and most linuxbrowsers with hotmail and other https sites). Don't know why it wouldn't let you come here though...

Yes I did complie ppp support into my kernel and it works because it lets me access some sites(like yahoo, etc...). I did a "development" Mandrake install(with most of the packages selected) so I don't think I am missing anything. Does anyone else have any suggestions? (Or anyother places I could turn to for help?)
