Can anyone tell me where to go to help in open source projects..I feel practical experience like this will greatly enhance my prospects of gaining employment programming for linux..Thanks

I think Freshmeat and Sourceforge are the biggest clearinghouses for open source projects. Poke around there to find something that interests you, and there should be a contact name/e-mail that you can use to get in touch with the project leader.
