 Ok the story starts a long time ago, about a year or so.

my pc has integrated sound to be specific the Ensoniq Sound Scape AudioDrive.

When i was running on kernal 2.2 in caldera edesktop the sound was detected and worked. where as upon a restart it stopped.

now i am using redhat 7.1 and the sound was never even probed and i am finding it incredibly hard to get the task done.

the major problem is i dont know how to even begin.

a little help would be appreciated alot.

thanks,
-dean g

I'm not familiar with that soundcard and what module it uses, so I did a search at Google where you may find enough info to get it working. Have a look here (http://www.google.com/linux?site=search&restrict=linux&hl=en&safe=off&q=Ensoniq++AudioDrive&btnG=Google+Search).

ok, thanks for all the help, i really appreciate it, but i got so fed up with the whole thing i just killed the linux native partition and put in win98. i first got mad when i thought, wait a sec this is redhat 7.1 the newest version and it can even support partition sizes over 7559 mb. so i said wat the heck. i got alot of software for windows mite as well. so thats, that. i will put back in linux but in another machine so that it runs more effectively. i still like it and still wanna learn it, just cant handle it rite now.

No one ever said Linux/Unix was easy. Of course some realize this and are prepared to spend the extra time to get their system up and running.

I guess that's the reason there is so much help and documentation available on the web especially the Google results I found that probably would have help you get your soundcard working.

Have fun with Windows. Real challenging.
