Whats the best way to copy a directory into another directory in Linux?

Midnight Commander - "mc" at the CLI is also a nice dual paned Norton Commander like app that makes it easier to navigate the filesystem.

I cant cp like that, I get an error, could't find a switch either, dunno, I'm a newby, I suck! mwahahahaha....

but seriously, cp didnt work for some reason...

anyone know a better way

-r = recursively
