I know its a stupid question http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif

But here goes, eversince i installed mandrake for the first time to now i always getfuzzy image on my monitor.

Letters are not sharp (you can almost see double) and the image (desktop) is kinda fuzzy.

When i'm in windows its fine and when i'm in linux is fuzzy. I checked my manual for the frequency and resolution and set it 1024X768 (1280X1024 Max) at 60Mhz like my box tell me and still fuzzy.

Monitor Daytek DT-1731D 17", i think i'm gonna e-mail Daytek if i can't figure it out.

Ps: i was thinking if changing my monitor soon maybe its a faulty monitor.

thanks for any assistance!

Was mandrake able to autodetect it or did you enter in the Horiz and Vert refresh rates yourself? (you know you need both, right?)

I think it detected a high frequency monitor but still fuzzy, so i changed it and Standard 1024X768 @ 60 Mhz....

still didn't fix the problem http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif

E-mailed Daytek, and got some info for my monitor. here it his.

17" Flat type 0.27 mm Dot Pitch
Non-Glare/ Anti-Static/ Anti-Reflection Invar Mask
Dynamic Focus
110MHz Bandwidth
30-72KHz H. Frequency
40-120Hz V. Frequency
1280 x 1024 Max Resolution

Can someone figure this out http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

First of all, does it work in windoze or some other os? If it does, that it isn't broken. Use Xfree86config to manually type int the Vertical and horizontal frequency rates. That should do it.

For horizontal enter 30-72 and for vertical enter 40-120. Be careful to enter the proper settings because the wrong settings can damage the monitor.

I think that i damaged it when i installed RedHat 6.1, it detected another monitor and since then it jitters under linux go figure.

I bough a new monitor last night 17" Hewlett Packard, and think its properly configured 1024X768@60Mhz and i works great.

Thanks for the tip, appreciated http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif
