Can you boot from your boot floppy? (you did make one right?)
If you can, then you may not have lilo/grub installed correctly....

I have tried at least three times now without success to install Linux OS on a primary partition on my only hard drive, I used FIPS to creat this partition I believe successfully and on a 13 gigabyte drive gave Win 98 se 10 gigs and left Linux 3 gigs just to see what it was like.I then used the linux installer to take over free disk space and proceeded with the installation but when this was complete and after beginning the reboot with cd removed as promped Win 98 se booted not linux as instructions would have suggested.
There were no instructions for creating a boot floppy in the magasine and I dont know where I can get one or how to create one myself, there was a utility for creating a boot floppy to boot from the A drive to run the Linux CD and I have tried this without the CD in the drive but all it does is keep trying to run the CD, which I take to mean that Linux is not deceted on the machine. My computer details are as follows P3 500 Gateway 128 mb ram with phoenix BIOS which are set to auto detect operating systems on boot up the version of Linux is Corel based on Debain 2.2.16.
