I just installed Linux Mandrake today, first time linux user, it did not find my Network Card, and i can't figure out how to make linux use it. It seems that there is no documentation out there to help you out step by step on installing hardware they all seem to think you know everything else about it.

The card is a NE2000 compatible (ISA)
Windows is saying the IRQ is 09 and the port is 0220h-023Fh
I just don't have a clue, I am trying to learn, what ever happened to the easy systems like amiga

HardDrak should help you look for it. Also, do a search for isapnp

Hi:

You'll need to know what kind of card it is--SMC, Linksys, 3Com, and the model number.

Then determine what available IRQ and Base I/O are available and configure the card with the DOS utility the manufacturer provides on floppy or dload from their website if you don't have it.

Once you've done that, you can use netconf for the rest.
